Hey Hey In Rockers and Welcome to The Lobby for this week’s wander through my always hectic month and the travels of my band, the Goo Goo Dolls. It’s been many, many years we’ve been sharing time together in the pages of In Rock and I couldn’t be more thankful to them for allowing me to have this space to visit with you all every month.
My wife Miyoko has been out on the road in the US with Osaka’s Shonen Knife since September, playing shows at The Weird Al Stage at Chicago’s Riot Fest, Buffalo’s Music is Art Festival and The legendary Roxy in Los Angeles, 27 shows in all. Shonen Knife is on my Good Charamel Records label, and we’ve been releasing albums and coordinating tours with them since 2007 and are proud to help them continue their legacy in North America. The 2025 Everyone Happy US Tour will conclude in late October in Tacoma Washington after 2 Sold Out shows in Seattle! The tour is in support of 2 re- releases that were sold exclusively at the shows, the first a vinyl version of their 2023 Our Best Place album with alternate cover art and a re-issue of their 1984 debut Minna Tanoshiku cassette which is actually on cassette with new packaging and some cool vintage photographs from that era of the band.
Goo Goo Dolls have been travelling doing a handful of private dates, a few of which were in Las Vegas, and I took advantage of the trip and as my wife was traveling with SK around the US, I took my daughter to see a few shows in Las Vegas, The Michael Jackson One Cirque de Solei show and the remade and remastered Wizard of Oz film at The Sphere. We had a great time wandering around Las Vegas and even ended up with an apple which was dropped by the hundreds on the crowd during the Wizard of Oz multimedia extravaganza that we were lucky enough to see at The Sphere. I love that movie so much... My daughter always laughs because I can’t make it through the film without getting tears in my eyes, i'm afraid it’s true, I’m a big softie sometimes and the scarecrow just warms my heart to the?point of tears. Somewhere over the rainbow ….
In the world of GGDs, our 2026 is starting to come into view, we'll be doing a few shows before the end of the year including a 2-night stint at the Beacon Theater in NYC to benefit Joe Torre’s Safe at Home organization who helps folks dealing with troubles at home and school. I hear that show may be recorded as well, stay tuned for details on that. More to come as well before the year closes out, please stay with us here in the lobby or at googoodolls.com for some more details as they are announced! OH! ...Also...super DJ Steve Aoki is releasing a remix of Iris this month, keep your eye out for that ...Boom Chicka Boom Chicka Boom!
OK, That’s it for this installment as we move forward into the future, just make sure you hang on tight, it’s crazy out there lately. But one thing’s for sure, you can count on us, we’ll be here for you next month to say hi and catch up here in the pages of the mighty In Rock. Hope you have a great month...?see you soon!
?
Peace,
Robby
